40 years of service

At Lee’s Air, we’ve served the residents of Fresno, California for over 34 years. When it comes to the weather, we’ve seen some of the highest and lowest temperatures that Fresno can produce. These extremes mean a lot of air conditioners and heaters are working long hours. This also means that energy bills are showing larger numbers. There are a number of simple things you can do around the house to reduce your energy bills. One of them is knowing the best temperature to set your thermostat to in the summer.

When You’re At Home

Comfort is important when you’re taking a break from the blazing temperatures outside. The Department of Energy recommends setting your air conditioner to 78° in the summer when you are at home. This may seem warm to some. An easy way to supplement your air conditioner is by running your ceiling fan. While the actual temperature of your home won’t be lower, your body will feel cooler due to airflow. If you ultimately decide to set your thermostat lower, keep in mind that you will spend an extra 1%-3% per degree under 78°.

When You’re Out of the House

You don’t even have to be home to save money on energy. The closer your thermostat setting is to the temperature outside, the lower your bill will be. While you and and your family are out of the house for work, school or Fresno fun, set your thermostat a few degrees higher. If you have a regular work/home schedule, investing in a programmable thermostat is an easy way to make sure your home’s temperature adjusts at the right time.
