Crazy as it sounds, we firmly believe this is true when it comes to choosing a solar system and a solar company! Here's why:
At the beginning of the month, power is relatively cheap to use. However, as you continue to use more and more power through out the month, the cost increases to a much more expensive rate. We believe that rather than buying a big system that will eliminate your power bill, it's much smarter to buy a system that's just big enough so that you never use enough power from PG&E to incur those higher rates.
Think about it this way: if your power bill comes in around $500 a month, you want to eliminate somewhere between $200-$400 of that bill with solar energy. A system that will do that could cost anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 less than a system that will eliminate the entire power bill. In that situation, it could take an extra 15 years for that bigger system to pay off! Unfortunately, the solar industry has a habit of trying to sell the biggest system available and we just don't believe that's the best thing for any homeowner.
Lee's rarely sees a need recommend that gigantic system (unless that's what you want, of course.) Therefore, our quotes for solar are almost always more affordable than the brand-name solar companies. Although it may seem like you're getting less for your money, the truth is that you're getting much, much more. |
