Common Myths About Living in California

40 years of service

The thing about stereotypes is that they’re usually way off. Sure, there may be a few Texans who ride horses to school or a big handful of Italian New Yorkers, but do those few make up an entire state? Nope. That’s why we at Lee’s Air are proud to debunk a few of the most common stereotypes about the great state of California.

1. Everyone Surfs

For every mile of coastline, there are miles and miles of desert and mountainous areas in California. Also, have you ever heard of sharks? We’re not saying they’re all vicious, but you won’t catch us splashing around in the ocean anytime soon.

2. Everyone is an Actor

No, we don’t want to read your screenplay. (Not that your passionate description wasn’t intriguing.) Not everyone inhabiting California is trying to make it big in Hollywood. You’ll catch us making our living, just like citizens of every other state, in marketing, finance, technology, engineering and all of the other non-theatrical industries.

3. The Weather is Perfect

Don’t get us wrong, we get more sunshine than Seattle, that’s for sure. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get really, really hot in California. (Death Valley, anyone?) One thing’s for sure – we don’t take our air conditioners for granted. Whether it’s a hot, dry summer afternoon or a cold, damp winter morning, we rely on the heating, cooling and dehumidifying properties of an HVAC unit as much as the next person.

4. We’re all Vegan Yogis

Yoga is great for the soul, and, when teamed with a vegan lifestyle, great for digestion! That doesn’t mean every Californian wakes up with sun salutations and kale. In fact, California is home to some of the best pulled-pork sandwiches, overstuffed burritos and all-around comfort food there is. Don’t believe us? Check out some of our famous food trucks like Devilicious, Benaddiction and El Gallito.

5. We’re Tan All Year

We may be blessed with one of the sunnier states, but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate sunscreen, floppy hats and general skincare. A great day at the beach doesn’t have to end with over-baked skin. Californians are no strangers to SPF. Just look at some of our most famous residents – Nicole Kidman has lived in Beverly Hills for years and can still pass for a porcelain doll.

At Lee’s Air, we’re proud to call Fresno, and the state of California, home! For any and all of your air conditioning needs, give us a call today!
