The summer heat is not as enjoyable when wanting to workout or exercise. Thankfully, another alternative is staying inside with the luxury of having air conditioning. This helps prevent the possibility of getting heat exhaustion, sunburn or even skin cancer. There are several different indoor exercises to choose from when wanting to beat the heat. One quick and easy exercise to do while in air conditioning is lunges. These are very effective and can be done while watching your favorite TV show. Whether you choose to do them consistently for 10 minutes or even 30-50 individual lunges, you will be working on your glutes and thighs while feeling an intense burn. These can be done down a hallway or in place, and if they get too easy for you, then choose to hold weights in your hands and make it more challenging.
If you’re looking to strengthen your core and waist, and don’t have a lot of time, then the plank is the perfect exercise. To do so, you must get into a pushup position and plant your forearms directly under your shoulders. Start off doing this for 30 seconds to a minute until the exercise starts getting easier. Once it does, you can choose to increase the time you are holding the plank position.
Jumping rope is a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) cardio workout. It may sound simple and easy, but once you get going, it becomes surprisingly difficult. You can start off by jumping the standard, two-foot jump for one minute, and then progress into alternating with one foot. This exercise is a full body workout and is guaranteed to make you feel the burn!
